Project Manager (Dry Liquid Marine & Exports)

Currently seeking a Project Manager to add to a Global Supply Chain Initiative within the Dry Liquid Marine & Exports space with a current client of ours. 

This individual will be responsible for global strategic growth projects within the petrochemical industry.  This person will play a critical role in defining and executing the supply chain and logistics strategy for various projects.  This Project Manager will be accountable for developing and implementing the supply chain and logistics capabilities required to enable global sales from greenfield projects, and optimizing capabilities' design for cost, customer service and working capital.

General:
  • Lead the development and implementation of logistics and supply chain capabilities per project milestones and metrics to enable chemical and fertilizer sales to global customers. Develop and execute project plans including the development of project resource and allocation plans.
  • Develop sourcing strategies and technical / operational statements of work, and lead Request for Information (RFI) and Request For Proposal (RFP) generation and execution, third party bid evaluation plan development and execution, services agreement development, negotiation and execution, and supplier qualification in collaboration with Logistics Sourcing team.
  • Develop and implement logistics and supply chain processes, policies and procedures including those with third party logistics providers for operational excellence.
  • Define requirements and lead the integration of companies SAP ERP system with third party logistics provider systems. Develop and set-up SAP master data as it relates to area of responsibility.
  • Lead planning, coordination and execution of testing and trials validating effectiveness of logistics and supply chain capabilities (including SAP system capabilities) prior to go-live. Own resolution of issues discovered during testing and trials.
  • Develop and implement KPI' s and operational dashboards and establish reporting processes with third party logistics providers.
  • Perform logistics / transportation modality cost / benefit analysis and develop cost models.
  • Lead internal and external bench marking to identify best practices as it relates to area of responsibility.
  • Present project plans, updates and recommendations to senior management stakeholders for buy-in and alignment.
  • Develop project risk assessments as it relates to areas of responsibility and identify and implement mitigation plans.
Project Manager must have experience developing liquid and dry bulk barge and vessels specifications and requirements.  Must have experience with 3rd Party liquid terminal storage and distribution hub location(s).

Requirements:     
  • 10+ years' work experience in Supply Chain / Manufacturing, of which more than 5 years Supply Chain experience in the Petrochemical industry
  • At least 5 years Supply Chain logistics operations experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably as a shipper of high-volume commodity chemicals in barges and vessels, and in terminal operations
  • Demonstrated project management and change management experience, and ability to lead and manage multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, mobilize resources and gain commitment at all levels in a complex environment
  • Proven leadership in a Supply Chain and Logistics operations environment
  • Logistics analysis (cost, service, capital)
  • Logistics / Transportation service provider sourcing and contracting
Education & Training:
  • Bachelor' s degree, preferably in Supply Chain Management, Engineering, Operations Management
Specific Knowledge:
  • Proven ability to work across multiple functional groups and influence at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent interpersonal / communication skills (both written and verbal). Proven ability to operate and communicate within complex, multi-cultural and global matrix organizations
  • Excellent project planning and budgeting skills
  • Possess a strategic mindset and approach
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Proven ability to apply analytical tools in a quantitative approach to problem solving
  • Strong financial acumen

  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Good knowledge of SAP
  • Understanding of integrated supply chain principles
  • Solid computer skills including Microsoft Office and Excel
  • Industry / product knowledge and experience
