Sr. Design Drafter

Currently seeking to add a hardworking Senior Design Drafter to a rapidly growing company. This position will be based in downtown Calgary, Alberta and will report directly to the Engineering Manager. The successful candidate will possess strong written and verbal communication skills and will have a proven ability to work in a fast paced, changing, and dynamic environment.

The Sr. Design Drafter will work with our Engineering & Design Team to assist and complete detailed designs and drafting products/standards. Candidate will prepare Solidworks designs and drawings from preliminary concepts, sketches, engineering calculations, spec sheets and other data, working with Engineering to ensure our designs are safe, efficient and cost effective.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • 5 or more years Solidworks experience (Mandatory). Other CAD program experience will not be considered equivalent.
  • 3-5 years in a manufacturing environment, experienced with designing for manufacturing.
  • Proficient in AutoCAD or DraftSight.
  • Design & Drafting Diploma required, equivalent training considered.
  • Proficiency with Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Familiar with ERP system management. GlobalShop ERP experience a strong asset.
  • Solidworks PDM Software experience an asset.
  • Create fully detailed parts, assemblies, drawings & BOM' s in Solidworks.
  • Mentor Jr. Design drafters and review their work for accuracy.
  • Maintain and develop standard parts library.
  • Assist in the development of company drafting standards and best practices.
  • Understanding of routing, weldments, sheet metal parts and solid modeling.
  • Strong understanding of mechanical drawing standards, dimensioning, and tolerances for manufacturing.
  • Firm understanding of revision control process for drawings and documents.
  • Incorporate redlines quickly and accurately.
  • Excellent communication, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Team player.
  • Ability to work independently with initiative.
  • Strong analytical, mathematical, and problem solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Experience with piping, skid and vessel drafting would be an asset.
  • Experience with ASME BPVC VIII-1 & B31.3 codes and PIP standards an asset.
* MUST BE COMPETENT IN SOLIDWORKS . (If you do not have vast Solidworks experience you will not be considered for this position.)
